CENTER-BASED ADMINISTRATORS AND LARGE FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS ONLY: This workshop is part of the Strengthening Business Practices for Child Care Programs series, a business practice curriculum designed by The National Center on Early Childhood Quality Assurance. The content and activities are designed to strengthen providers’ foundational knowledge of sound fiscal management and business operations. This module will support program leadership to understand best practices related to recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new employees. This will be done through building an effective orientation plan for new employees, becoming familiar with the components of a staff handbook, and exploring strategies for providing feedback to employees. THIS PLUS WORKSHOP INCLUDES 4 QUALITY-ASSURED FOLLOW-UP COACHING SESSIONS. Program leaders attend a 3-hour workshop exploring effective practices related to recruitment and retention. In the weeks following the workshop, program leaders will engage in quality intensive coaching with the goal of reflecting on their current recruitment and retention practices and developing a plan of action for quality improvement.

In the second session, we will examine the benefits and implementation of individualized and culturally responsive care in supporting infant/toddler development. This package contains four Professional Learning Experiences designed for participants of the Let’s Go Outside initiative. The “Let’s Go Outside” Initiative, a partnership between Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood and the Lab School, is turning early childhood classrooms from the inside out. Children and teachers’ health and well-being depend on regular time playing and connecting outdoors. Equitable access to outdoor spaces where children and their educators can learn, develop, play, and connect with nature and each other needs to be a priority. This initiative combines professional development, coaching, and collaboration, along with the funding needed, to turn outdoor learning dreams into reality.PLE 1 is a self-paced 2-hour workshop that starts you on your journey with background information and inspiration to make your outdoor spaces filled with wonder, nature, and playful learning. PLE 2 is an in-person 6-hour workshop designed to help you envision how play and emergent curriculum can guide and support your outdoor learning experiences.PLE 3 is an in-person, 5-hour observation where you can see the magic and power (and logistics!) of outdoor learning with educators and young children. PLE 4 is an at-your-site 2-hour coaching session designed to provide you individualized support with the materials you’ve received and learning you’ve experienced.

This package contains four Professional Learning Experiences designed for participants of the Let’s Go Outside initiative. March 15th, a 2-hour self-paced course opens to be completed on your own schedule within 30 days of class date. Participants select April 15th (Little Sprouts, Seaford) OR April 29th (The Lab School, Newark) to attend IN PERSON. Participants select one observation day of a nature-based preschool between April 12th and May 10th. This will be scheduled with your coach. After participants receive their grant funded materials, they will receive 2 hours of coaching at their site. This will be scheduled with your coach.
